For my masters thesis, I analyzed the larval fish community entering a north Florida estuary through its two inlets.  Accounting for the species present has importance in determing the functional role of estuaries as nurseries for marine-spawned larvae and juveniles, and for analyzing temporal shifts in species assemblages as ocean waters warm.  Abundance and diversity trends were correlated with water temperature, and seasonal peaks in recruitment were apparent.
